The FQHA All Novice Buckle Series wrapped up on October 30 & 31st at the
Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs. The weather couldn't have been
better for the final of this series of shows and clinics! Many thanks to clinicians
Andrew Augsburger, Carrie
Grose and Julie Steinmetz-Usoff, who
volunteered their time and expertise to well attended clinics. Judge Peter Morgan
also generously donated his judging in the interest of AQHA and the industry.
FQHA Director Bob Lines is an invaluable volunteer, running the tractor, driving
the water truck, and along with his wife, Jan, serving lunch to exhibitors,
and generally doing whatever is needed! FQHA Director Pat Levison, Amanda McHollan
and Diane Garrison also volunteered as photographer, ring steward and gate.
We are so appreciative of the many volunteers who helped make this series of
shows a great experience.

We look forward to seeing you next year!
We all
had a wonderful time at the Novice Clinic and Show this past weekend in Green
Cove Springs. We brought a group of five girls and each and everyone of them
can't wait to come back and do the complete series next year. We loved the format
of the show, the relaxed atmosphere, and especially the feedback from the judge
and clinicians. Everyone was great! Even when the clinicians pointed out some
of the same issues that our trainer does, it was helpful for the kids to hear
it phrased a bit differently and to have the reinforcement of a second opinion.
My daughter definitely had an "aha" moment after the showmanship clinic!
We found the show to be very affordable, the staff helpful, and the contestants
supportive of one another. We were also pleased to see the first rate quality
of the prizes, including the circuit and series awards. We anticipate bringing
a much larger group next year; unfortunately the holiday weekend prevented many
from attending. We feel this is not only a wonderful introduction to quarter
horse showing, but a fun and informative experience for anyone interested in
showing horses and improving their riding skills. Our only complaint is that
we have to wait until next summer for the new series to commence!
