Hialeah Race Park and Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association, Inc. are pleased to announce an agreement for the upcoming 2010/2011 meet as part of a sixyear agreement for meets through the 2015/2016 State of Florida fiscal year. This agreement is in accordance with the promises Hialeah Park and FQHRA, Inc. made to the Florida Legislature and the people of Florida if Hialeah Park was allowed to expand its gaming operations and obtain a quarter horse permit. This agreement will be a major tool in bringing back Florida?s economy as it will produce over 7,000 jobs for Florida including construction jobs for new farms, equine service jobs, hay and feed production jobs and jobs at Hialeah Park as owners, trainers and breeders move into the state.
Florida has been the breeding ground for some of America?s best racing quarter horses and with this agreement in place, Florida?s quarter horse breeding program should return to national prominence in short order. A top flight breeding program will insure that only the best quality quarter horses race at Hialeah Park and it will help stabilize Florida?s economy.
Hialeah Race Park and FQHRA, Inc. believe the people of Florida deserve nothing less than for Hialeah to be rebuilt to her historical glory and for Hialeah to have the world?s fastest athletes racing there. FQHRA, Inc has committed to a six year contract to give Hialeah the stability it needs to predict costs in this great endeavor for the people of Florida. FQHRA, Inc. has also committed to building a premier breeding program which will allow some of the major breeders in the country that are anxiously waiting to expand to Florida to do so. In only its first meet Hialeah attracted horses such as Swingin Daddyo who was an All American Futurity finalist and went on to win the Grade 1 Ruidoso Derby. Horses like Swingin Daddyo will be common sites at Hialeah and the breeding farms of Florida with this 6 year agreement in place. This 6 year agreement also lays a foundation as additional tracks come on line to eventually have a Florida Quarter Horse racing circuit.
In a nutshell, Hialeah Race Park and FQHRA, Inc made the following six year agreement:
Fiscal year 2010/2011 - 24 days of racing spread over 8 weeks, 3 days per
week, starting
December 3rd through Jan. 23 $100,000 per day.
Fiscal year 2010/2012 30 days of racing spread over 10 weeks, $120,000 per day
Fiscal year 2012/2013 30 days of racing spread over 10 weeks, $120,000 per day
Fiscal year 2013/2014 40 days of racing spread over 10 weeks, $140,000 per day
Fiscal year 2014/2015 40 days of racing spread over 10 weeks, $140,000 per day
Fiscal year 2015/2016 40 days of racing spread over 10 weeks, $140,000 per day
This agreement is not a pie in the sky agreement for either side but it is a fair agreement and it is with the spirit of bringing economic development to Florida. Hialeah Race Park and FQHRA, Inc. are committed to keeping their promise of economic development in Florida and this is an important first step.
We invite you to come to Hialeah to watch the world?s fastest athletes. Stakes schedules will be posted on www.fqhra.com soon.
